On January 18, 2020, Miss Carson spoke to HASSE Space School students and teachers from 7 countries: Brazil, Chile, Peru, Taiwan, Ukraine, the US, and Canada. Miss Carson shared her first-hand experiences as the world’s youngest astronaut-in-training as well as her insight into the hardships that come along with it. She gave a riveting speech thoroughly detailing the procedures for their trainings and their purposes. The speech was followed by a Questions and Answers session in both English and Spanish and graciously took pictures with HASSE students. As Alyssa spoke, it was clear to everyone in the room that both her passion and drive to be one of the first people to set foot on Mars is no mere dream. It is a giant goal that she fully believes in. Alyssa Carson’s fervent motivation truly is an inspiration to all.
Alyssa Carson is the youngest graduate from the Advanced Possum Academy. At the age of 17, Carson (born March 10, 2001) was a recipient of Louisiana State University’s Women’s Center Esprit De Femme Award, an award given only to those who make exceptional efforts toward the advancement of women. As a student from Baton Rouge International School, she is proficient in 4 languages and knowledgeable in several global cultures. In just her teens, she is officially certified to do suborbital research flights and ventures into space. Now 18, Carson’s accomplishments include becoming the first person to attend all seven of NASA Space Camps in the world, being the first to complete the NASA Passport Program, and being one of seven ambassadors who represent Mars One, a mission that aims to establish human colonies on Mars by 2030.
